“They say that the human hand is the hardest thing to draw. While it may very well be true, it’s the eyes that draw my attention the most. Ukrainian artist Pavel Guzenko manages to capture the glimmering gaze of the human eye with his impressionist technique. Each shimmering orb depicts a remarkable reflective surface, truly capturing the sparkle in one’s eye. Guzenko, who lives and works in Kiev, began his artistic career as a designer but has pursued his professional path in painting since 2006. The oil painter has a rich color palette that is evident in the body of his work that goes beyond the confines of the human eye. Each painting employs the talented artist’s quick brushstrokes that aren’t concerned so much with fine detailing as capturing the dynamic essence of the image.”

There’s no such thing as a painless lesson. They just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can’t gain anything without losing something first. Although, if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle - a heart made fullmetal.

Driving home from work earlier this week, I saw this incredible cumulus cloud emerging from the twilight sky above the San Gabriel Mountains and I resolved to try to paint it. It seemed like the kind of moment in nature upon which Aang would meditate.
This is an update of sorts, based on a little concept I did almost exactly 10 years ago. I worked on it a few minutes at the end of each day this week. *Trying* to get better at digital painting. Hope you guys enjoy it. Have a great weekend!
I was planning on doing this sketch a few weeks back, but I just got around to it tonight. Il Kwang at Studio Mir did a fantastic job designing young General Iroh, in my opinion. I saw a funny “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FACE” post after he showed up in the end of episode 110. I say, “CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HAIR, SIR.”
KORRA BOOK 1 FINALE TOMORROW 11:00 AM!
But I am guessing (hoping…?) you knew that already. Joaquim had a cool idea to do a little group illustration to celebrate Book 1 and thank you, the fans, for all of your support and enthusiasm since the announcement of Korra up until now. Mike, Joaquim, Ryu, Lauren, Colin, Ian, and I all “jammed” on it. We hope you guys like it, and we hope you enjoy the finale! And if you don’t, well… there’s always Book 2, eh?
I’m headed to a casual Book 1 wrap party/finale screening right now. I leave you to unravel the riddle of Ryu’s head-scratcher, “Not enough yet! We are still hungry for your clap.”
Love,
Bryan
